I just purchased a squeezebox and was comparing the unit's DAC against the DAC inside my receiver (connected via digital coax).
At the same volume level I noticed that the mids and highs sound clear using the analog outputs but the bass is lacking. The digital output has slightly lesser sounding mids and highs but significantly more pronounced bass.
I could understand the difference in signal quality when comparing DAC's but not the difference in bass output. This leads me to believe that there must be a difference in bass management between digital and analog outputs...is my reasoning correct?
