    HT of your dreams...

Imagine you have a basement room without windows sized 27ft wide by 22 deep and 8 high. You can do anything you want from there including any prewiring, accoustic control, furniture, and of course systems components. What would you want in your room. Please be specific as this is the situation I am in and I hope to get some good ideas. Budget? It is not so much a matter of money as value for money which I would define as mid to lower high end. Top end is great but costs more than it may be worth and low end can too easily be improved upon. Where is that fine line of great performance for the accomodating buck?

So far I am looking at Anthem 20 v2 and M&K speakers.

Dream on and let me know what is in your hearts...

    Wout,

First of all welcome to the Guide.

I'll make this easy, this is what I would do.

    Dream Theater

May the force be with you,

    Azeke

My "Dream Theatre" would likely have processing and power from the likes of Lexicon/Bryston/Classe etc. Three monoblocks for the L/C/R channels (or 6 mono's to bi-amp) and two stereo amps for the surround channels.

This would run to a 7.1 setup of the Genesis 6 series plus a couple top shelf SVS subs.

Probably have a ~50" RPTV (CRT/LCD/SXRD/DLP) etc for daytime and non-critical viewing and a drop down screen for my Sony "Ruby" SXRD front projector

      Denon 3910 DVD player
      Benchmark Dac1
Media Server PC (That's a whole thread/post on it's own!)
Motorola 6412 HD Dual Tuner PVR
I'd have to investigate on a LP player

      Add some of these seats.

Wilson Audio Alexandria speakers L and R, Wilson Audio Watch center channel and Watch surrounds with a Wilson XS sub.
Power would come from Mark Levinson, four No.33 monoblocks for the front channels and the xs sub, and two No. 431 stereo amps for the surrounds. The processing would be from Theta via the casablanca 3.
The dvd's and cd's would both be played back via the mark levinson media center. I would still have a VCR but it would be one of the JVC D-VHS units. I know next to nothing about turntables but would surely have one in this setup.
Video would be projected by the fabulous Sony Qualia oo6 onto a stewart screen. And I would watch in seating by salamander designs. the room itself would be professionally tweaked for acoustics.
