Would Calibration be part of Extended Service Plan?

I have a 2yr 42 Toshiba RPTV, the cable picture is horrible. The cable is split to accomodate the modem in the same rooom as well. The HD channels look much better, but the color spectrum still seems a little hazy.
I did purchase the extended service plan and was wondering if I called and expressed my concern over PQ, would I be able to have the TV calibrated?

Sorry no... though I wish it did!

Especially for your cable signal, (but really all your inputs) try turning off any excess video processing ie: Scan Velocity Modulation off, turn the sharpness down to "0" or "off" (if you have the option), any auto-colour functions etc.

Also, have you properly calibrated the set yourself with a copy of DVE or Avia?

Thanks, I have been tweaking the TV since owning it,however never with DVE or Avia. I probably should invest in one of the discs, I've spent $25 on worse things.

There are preferences to alter color, sharpness, red and green levels, tint and brightness. Its part of Toshiba's Cinema series and there are different modes, sports, movies, etc. Additionally, can change the overall setting of cool, warm and flesh tones. Sometimes I think tweating all the settings makes me worse off. I compare this TV to my 50in Toshiba in my main room and the 50 always looks much better, without ever messing with settings. The 50 is not part of the Cinema series, which is supposely better, but in comparison the 50 has looked great out of the box the past 3 yrs.

Can I call someone like Elwin TV for the calibration, can you recommend anyone?

I would try the test discs and also see if there are procedures for user adjusment of convergence or other calibrations listed in the set's owner's manual.

Ultimately, there is the full ISF calibration to which aud19 has provided a link for reference.

I always thought of myself as somewhat of a "hot-shot" at calibrating the colors contrast and brightness. Boy, was I ever wrong. The AVIA disc made my old 27" flatscreen Sony look better than new.
