Yeap tons of sound absorbing panels and oriental carpets on the walls throughout the room, and 1/4 cylinder, ceiling high, bass traps in the front corners. Makes a HUGE difference in the sound quality.

When you think about it, we all have "some" acoustic treatment in our listening rooms in the form of carpeting, furniture, window treatments etc. Many do not think of these as acoustical treatments, but they act as such and influence the sound of the room.

        Acoustic system?
        by caleb
OK - so this is a bit off topic, but I do have all B&W speakers - so I'll give it a go.

A local dealer came round to my home yesterday and brought with him some "Acoustic System" room treatment.

They consisted of small wooden blocks with tiny cups on top....

Breaking with modern conventions - a highly musical 2-way system using an 8" woofer

This article will describe the fruits of my efforts to build a moderate sized speaker which might be moderately above average in performance for a basic two-way system. I desired a speaker like this both for my own use in secondary systems, and to fill a need for some friends, who desired fairly full range response (i.e., “it’s gotta have good bass”). Also, though I have access to a good wood shop, many potential DIY enthusiasts may not, so I hoped to use a modified...

I have a finished basement and the pool room has now evolved into a retrofit home theater. The room is 12'8" X 19'. There is an 8' ceiling.

The screen is a DIY 92" Dalite HCCV with black felt 3" border. If you don't look too close,...

The MIRACLE of room treatment, my experience
        by Blazar
I just swapped out a pair of 802N for B&W 802D speakers recently and did notice a significant improvement. I'm not sure if the 802D are just way better or that the 802N were just never good enough.

Besides the speaker change I knew I could improve my 20x24 room with vaulted ceilings...
