Speaker pop with digital signals

My main (mainly), has a little pop or crackle when audio starts on my digital channels. Going from the main show to a commercial will make a crackle sound, etc. It's only digital channels, not on analog. I'm with Time Warner Cable. Is this typical? What would cause that?

It's fairly common with some digital sources. Others have reported switching to an optical connection sometimes helps if you aren't using one already?
