Whats your favorite live concert film?

Hi all interested to know which concert films people love to watch.
My personal favorite would still have to be Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense" made about 81 with Jonathon Silence of the lambs Demme directing.
I am still trying to get the DVD version out here in Australia but will have to try the net as its rare as rocking horse droppings in these here parts.

Do I HAVE to pick just one ? The Mrs. and I are huge fans of EC so anything Clapton is a favorite. Back in June of this year we saw him perform at Madison Square Garden. If I were forced to pick a most favorite concert film, it would have to be "Live at Hyde Park, The Concert for The Prince's Trust."

I like the Talking Heads DVD as well.

Still, my favorite is the Criterion 3-disc Monterrey Pop with Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, the Who, Jimi Hendrix, the Byrds, and on and on.

My second favorite is The Last Waltz featuring the Band and including such artists as Van Morrison and Bob Dylan.

Favorite rock documentaries/docudramas are A Hard Day's Night (Beatles), Don't Look Back (Bob Dylan), The Kids are All Right (the Who) and the one by the Sex Pistols.

Hi Keith ,Its amazing how many people I have seen in various reviews etc over the Years who list "The last Waltz" and "Stop Making sense" together.I have seen only portions of the last waltz and The Band was a bit before my time but the final few minutes of the waltz are amazing.

Yep, when I first rented "Stop Making Sense", I was only vaguely familiar with The Talking Heads. The DVD knocked me out, not just David Byrne, but the complexity of the music, the absolutely top-notch musicianship, the variety, the staging, and, most of all, how in synch each person on the stage was with each other. They were in a groove and Demme caught it wonderfully.

Hands down, by far, no contest, "Rattle and Hum" by U2. That DVD is nirvana for me.

I don't own a lot of "live" concerts on dvd, but I do own many music dvds. But if I am only allowed one "live" concert to pick, it would have to be FLEETWOOD MAC The Dance. It was filmed in front of a live audience at Warner's Burbank CA studio. The individual and the group performances are truly wonderful, and the 5.,1 sound track is one of the best out there.

Ditto on Stop Making Sense and the Last Waltz...I am a big blues fan and
loved Muddy Waters. His segment in the Last Waltz was the first time I saw him move..as he had only exsisted on album covers.I also read that his part was filmed accidently with the camera "left on"...which would account for the single angle.I'll have to rewatch to see if this is true.
Sade's "Lovers Live" would be my current favorite...my wife has forced me to watch
Paul Simon's You're the One which would be her fav. Both were great visually and the audio simply jumps out at you.

There are so many many choices out there. My wife and I seem to watch and listen to the following an awful lot:

Rolling Stones Four Flicks: To see the Stones go from Madison Square Garden to London's Twickenham Stadium to the intimacy of the Olympia Theater in Paris is an amazing trip.

Alison Kraus & Union Station Live.

Carly Simon Live From Martha's Vineyard (originally recorded in 1987 for HBO and while a little grainy-it is one great performance of a singer-songwriter who never enjoyed playing live)

Saw it LIVE in Pasadena "Guns and Roses" with Rolling Stones.

AC/DC is a great act too, with 2 cannons they light up after each song.

In addition to all the above:
CONCERT FOR GEORGE and I'm not even a Beatles fan. I saw this on PBS and went out the next day a bought the video and the cd.

Roger Waters In the Flesh. Audio is wonderful and so is the capturing of the huge set on that tour.

Have to second the U2 notion-Rattle and Hum......if you have ever been to one you'll get the same feeling on their DVD's...great stuff.

It was even better live, even though I went without sleep for 36 hours setting up the concert in Scottsdale AZ.
