    Tierney Sutton's "Something Cool"

Those of you who are into jazz singers with interesting interpretations of standards, a nice voice, and very good recording quality may want to check out this 2002 release on Telarc, in Hybrid SACD/CD. I believe it's available just in CD also, but the CD layer on this disk is down converted from the original SACD recording.

Those who like Diana Krall may probably like Tierney also, as regards the genre. Sort of late evening with a brandy and the lights down low.

Though the drums are recorded with a more distant acoustical perspective than I would have chosen, the vocals, piano, and standup bass are quite luscious.

14 cuts altogether, about 65 minutes of playing time, with both stereo and multi-channel SACD, and a stereo CD layer; i.e., this will play on any digital player.

$16.99 at Best Buy. Not an endorsement of Best Buy, per se, just availability and pricing.

George might well like this one.... :T

I don't own an SACD capable player...yet! :B However, I plan to purchase this disc. I listened to the first five clips ( thanks Amazon) that David has listed below. Very nice indeed!

Jon, thanks for the heads up on this one!!! It's right up my alley.

              Repost of D3 SACD/CD issue
              by RJKuzma
I'm reposting this as a new thread since I didn't get any responses to my follow-up post on the "Halo D3 Problems" thread.
My third Halo D3 disc player arrived yesterday. I specifically did not connect it to the PS Audio Premier Power Plant. So far—there are no fried circuits, like...

Can't play SACD layer of Yellow Brick Road...
              by Kevin P
Last week I picked up Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" on hybrid SACD. I finally got around to playing it at home, on my SACD player, a Sony DVP-S9000ES, and discovered that it will only play the CD layer. I tried both discs, and both are doing the same thing... the player recognizes...

              SACD, how many layers?
              by eljr
I thought I understood this, but

please explain to me the difference between:
              Hybrid Multichannel SACD and
              Hybrid Stereo SACD

I understand that both have a red book layer so they can be played on all cd players.
But, does the Hybrid Multichannel SACD...

Two new Jazz gems on SACD/CD hybrid disks
              by JonMarsh
I picked up two new jazz titles which are hybrid SACD's; they have both SACD and CD layers, so they play on conventional CD players, also.

Spyro Gyra's "In Modern Times" is a multichannel SACD with a dedicated stereo mix to boot. It's fairly typical of their work; lucsious...
