Madonna- the IMMACULATE Collection was recorded with Qsound

Not only is it a very nice cd but, the sound ( to my ear) is fantastic!

Whatever happen to "Q sound"?

Is it just a strange phasing technique?

Is it still used?

check out Q Sound for more info on the how's and why's of QSound but basically it tries to enhance 2 channel stereo with simulated 3D effects. They use physcoacoustics to produce some very fun effects on some songs....though it can get a little hookey at times. The Madonna CD though is a lot of fun to listen to and it uses QSound a fair bit. There are some questionalbe speaker dealers (Nuance) that only use CD's recorded with QSound to demo their speakers and claim the added depth to the music is becasue of the quality of their speakers when in actual fact they are built using sh!tty drivers and poor build quality

Great link Andrew! Answers most of what we need to know about Qsound.

I agree that the Madonna cd sounds very nice. It is however, the only one that I've heard with the technology. I would like to sample a few others before passing judgement on it's merits.
