    Half-Speed Masters Anyone?

Well John, if you insist . . .

How many of you vinyl-lovers out there - yes, albums - own or have heard half-speed mastered versions of records? These were discs cut at 1/2 the speed of a standard album, and the quality of the sound reflected it. Aren't they nice? I've still got four:

    Journey - Infinity
    Kansas - Leftoverture
    Kenny Loggins - Nightwatch
    Poco - Legend

    How about you?

    David,

This is great stuff! Thank you!!!

I have never heard one. So they are worth getting then? Are they still being pressed?

John, I don't think so, but I could be mistaken. I haven't actively pursued buying an album in 14+ years. That'll change once I'm able to replace my turntable, though.

        David,

Do you think if I ask at places like Second Time Around, they will have a clue as to what I'm talking about?

          John,

Definitely - well, I sure hope they do. :? Any legitimate place that deals in vinyl should have knowledge of HSMs and where to get them. If you can get one that's in good shape, you'll see (uh, hear) what I mean.
