    DR Database

LowRes, HiRes, Redbook, MP3, WAV, FLAC, APE, ALAC…….WTF!

Why does some music, regardless of the media, even on the same media, sound so good on one album, & so horrible on another?

    It is called Dynamic Range.
Either you have it or you do not.
Before an engineer or producer can even begin to think about good sound quality, you must have adequate Dynamic Range.

I just came across this neat little reference library that can help you get the best possible (sounding) version of the music you are interested in purchasing.

      You are V welcome, Mike.

      as an example......

Look up Gaucho by Steely Dan

You will find the HD Tracks HiRes version has the lowest quality of any of the formats available!

I swear, somebody has turned the entire world upside down while you were not looking.

Now they are all capitalizing on people blindly influenced by branding & unwilling to invest time into due diligence.

But hey! Look how much more convenient everything is! (sarcasm intended)

Yes, but it is the same as the DVD-A, so I wonder if it is the same master.

Cool! Nice to see some of my favorites confirmed as at least above average. :T I wish the database went back a little farther , though. Then again , I'm partial to Black Pizzas....

Thank you for that link wkhanna. That's a technical aspect I haven't really looked into yet. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go see where Pink Floyd sits on that chart.

BTW, if you are running Foobar, it has an ap that will run a DR scan of anything in your library.

I wanted to appeal for help and see if my table setup looks good. I'd like to have the tables sort of lined up before...

Got through the update okay, following the instructions for both Halo Control and MXEditor. So far so good. I ran the MXEditor program Live Update, which downloaded a rather large...
