Your Favorite Performance Of Samuel Barber's Adagio?

Like the title asks, what's your favorite recorded performance of Samuel Barber's Adagio? I've got the one on the CD An Adagios Weekend by Deutsche Grammophon which is a compilation of various adagios, but was wondering if you know of any better versions. Thanks in advance.

I'm partial to Puff Daddy's version on his album No Way OUt. Deutsche Grammophon is a pretty good label I doubt if you will find better on CD. When you say it is a compilation does it have the original string quartet version as well as the string orchastra version that he wrote a couple of years later?
By the way, I'm serious that Puff Daddy used it on the album I mentioned.

I've tried doing a comparison of the recordings of it that I have but I always fall asleep before I get to the second one.

Bob, I thought you WERE pulling my chain on the Puff Daddy bit.

The one version I have is this one.

Nope, while I was kidding about being my favorite version, it is indeed part of his album.

Brilliant Classics - 92205 - a 2CD set of Mahler's Symphonies #5 and #10 performed by the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie conducted by Rudolph Barshai.

The recording of #5 is a re-issue of its first release on the Laurel label in 1999. This recording was apparently much discussed on the...

My first speakers were a pair JBL L-100As that I bought in 1973. I always enjoyed them and still use them today. Their easily identified sound, the so-called West Coast sound, was once a highly touted marketing feature. Ad copy claimed that musicians and...

I have been listening to a delightful set of recordings of Brahms' four Symphonies.
{delightful is not quite the optimum word, nor sufficiently comprehensive, to fully describe the performances - I regret my limited vocabulary, but bear with me as I may have some adequate additional descriptions...

              Pre-amp Modification Review
              by wkhanna
The following is a rather winded review of the effects resulting from the modifications that were recently finished on my nearly 30 year old Carver C-19 tube hybrid pre-amp with a built-in phono pre-amp.

Tom is the owner of the shop and creator of the modification specifications. He is...
