    Cambridge Audio SR20

Most annoying pile of...gear I have ever owned. The sound isn't bad, not to my taste but it certainly isn't sub par for what it is. I'm currently (sometimes) using it for the DAC. It sounds much better than the Modi 3+ I had and the less said about my current motherboard's DAC the better. 🤮 The problem is the "green" functionality, that can't be turned off or bypassed. If it doesn't sense any input for 20 minutes or so it shuts off. No standby, no warning, just shuts off. Sometimes it will turn back on when I try. Sometimes it won't. Sometimes it won't respond at all, nothing, nada, just won't power up. I've tried unplugging it, turning it off and on with the power switch in the back, nothing. I'll leave it unplugged and eventually I can get it to power up like everything is just fine. Sometimes it takes a few hours, or a few days, or a few weeks. No rhyme, reason or pattern to the timing. 121 VAC at the plug. The only thing I haven't tried is the Louisville Slugger method, but Lord knows it's up for consideration. I wish I could arrange 5 minutes in a small room with the Green Weenie responsible for this implementation. It was a bad idea, but at least it was poorly executed. 🤬
So if you see a deal on one and think "Hmmm...that might be a nice addition for a second system", run, don't walk, as far away from it as you can.

It's irritating when it happens, but after reflection and pondering audio gear, music, the universe, my navel, and 42, I found another perspective inside me that I may prefer.
I have a $500 receiver that has some quirks I find inconvenient. It's every bit as valid as an emoji filled s&#! fit, and I realized that at age 30 my calendar had a lot more room for righteous indignation. Since it's a lot more full 30+ years later I'd prefer smaller things-like favorite songs, kids laughing, and Dad jokes. And very cold beer. I feel better already. 😤
