    Just curious

How many of you guys use your rear speakers in 2 channel?

I really like the 7 speaker mode of 2 channel. Who needs imaging anyway? Really, the sound is so much fuller in Mono too, with all the speakers playing. I mean, why let a speaker only play part of a song when it can play the whole thing? lol.

(This post intended to wake you the f..k up! Nothing more, carry on.

Never, but that's a function of my setup more than my preference.

            Rear speakers?

Lex, didn't you know quad came and went in the 70's? :E Now, I have this quad "Tubular Bells" SACD, made from the original quad master of that album, but lord knows if I'll ever have a system I can play back the quad mix as opposed to the 2 channel mix on the disk.

We have a saying out at KloneAudio:

Friends don't let friends run music through pre-pro's. :W

Besides, I STILL haven't found the time to finish designing my Wilson CUB rip-off rear/center channel speakers. Some day.....

            All in fun,

            Jon

Frankly I can't make up my mind and keep playing with the controls. There are things I like about using the center and rears for 2 channel recordings, the increased spaciousness and larger soundstage. But I like the better focus and denser images of two channel.

I think that this has a lot to do with what equipment is doing the processing. I have yet to hear a Lexicon newer than the Cp3 (sad I know). When I listened to music under it's five/seven channel processing, it was very involving. And brought out a lot of really awsome imaging.

Now, when I've listened to any other processer/receiver in their respective 5/7ch stereo (including my Pioneer) it's never as good to me as what the Lex could do.

As far as DTS cd's are concerned, this isn't the same animal (discrete vs. matrix). However, I quite enjoy DTS cd's.

                Just my take...
