Rec needed for bright sounding amp...

    Anyway...

I recently completed a set of DIY speakers (thread HERE) that, for the first time, I feel need separate amplification. They are still over a friend's house being broken in and fed some Rotel goodness. From experimentation it seems that these are somewhat inefficient and LOVE moar power. I would say 100W would be the are minimum. I understand (not heard by me) that they loved a modified Rotel RB1090 pushing 384W.

The last time I heard them they needed to be broken in. But it was apparent that they needed some upper end sparkle help. Hopefully, the break in period will help this. However, I still think a brighter sounding amp will help in this regard. So.....no tube amp recommendations this time. lol

So, if you had $500 what would you buy (used is fine by me) for this setup? I didn't really want to go higher but will entertain "must have" recommendations up to $700.

I was thinking about Rotel, Emotiva, Carver, Adcom, etc. What do you all think?
BE ALERT! The world needs more lerts.

Everyone says the NAD amps are on the brighter side? I've heard the same for Yamaha as well but not sure they have a lot of amps? There was a integrated amp they had a while back that got some great reviews. You've heard several of the Emotiva amps I've had though and they are certainly very good but not sure if they are really on the bright side or not?

I would not consider NAD bright. Emotiva is probably the brightest listed above.

Speakers a little too bright sounding
          by subynube
I have built a set of stand mounted Nat P's. They are powered by an Emotiva amp, Emotova processor, and Denon cd/DVD player. I also have a DIY dayton reference sub for those interested.
I feel they are fatiguing and and forward sounding at approximately 5-8khz range. That range seems a little...

          Emotiva RMC-1 Meltdown
          by theSven
I've had issue with my Emotiva RMC-1, and I've even sent the unit in to Emotiva for service. I was out of town for work travel for 2 weeks, and upon returning I wanted to watch a movie and spend some time in my theater. I go to turn on the Emotiva and it doesn't boot. I get the typical error ARMC-1...

RMB-1075 less bright than my Acurus amp?
          by markusp
Hi Guys. Still tinkering with my system and am contemplating replacing my Acurus amp. Some of you have suggested that it is a "bright" amp matched up to my brighter sounding Def Techs and as such I am wondering if I should jump to the Rotel 1075? I think my Acurus may distort during louder...

          Paradigm Monitor's (esp. 5's) extended break-in needed?
          by GregoriusM
          Hi!

I recently moved from a Denon 3300 with Titan mains, CDP-170 center and ADP-170 surrounds to a Denon 2805 and changed out the Titans with a new pair of Monitor 5's.

The Denon 2805 was all I was willing to pay for at the time (two weeks ago). I found the sound not very...
