    speaker measurement

    hi there
Am trying to measure the woofer on my three way speaker, disconnect the mid and tweet, run a tone gen from my computer and play it through the Brio amp
Am measuring it with a SPL meter and here is the question-----> I disconnected the other channel ---> will that damage the amp -->only one channel in use
Am trying to get software that does real time audio sweeps but so far I've run into trouble with windows 7 running 64 bit mode
    Any suggestions???
    Thanks
    Jank

Disconnecting one channel of the amp is fine. You can either remove the input connection or disconnect the speaker.

        Dual Channel Measurement Jig
        by Reet
Here's a schematic for a simple dual channel measurement jig, which can be used with ARTA, REW, or SoundEasy. This jig is made with USB audio interfaces in mind, so the use of 1/4" TRS connectors is recommended for this purpose. Main reason is that the 48V phantom power on audio interfaces is only present on the XLR pins, so use of TRS will ensure that 48V will only ever be present when a mic is connected, not when using this jig even if you leave phantom power turned on.

        Kenwood's KM-Z1 six-channel power amp for Rotel?
        by Chris D
Erik just posted a link to the Kenwood's KM-Z1 six-channel power amp for sale CHEAP... $495. Would this be a good unit to drive a Rotel signal? Or would the Kenwood be cheap and distort the fine, pure sound that we all aspire to?

Single vs Dual Channel Measurements, or why friends don’t let friend use USB mics
        by Reet
What does single channel or dual channel measurement really mean, and what are the implications of choosing one over the other? This document aims to help answer this.
Strictly speaking, a microphone is a single channel of audio input, in that it is a mono signal. USB microphones which include integrated ADC and USB codec can be considered a single channel device.

Dual channel would be a measurement which includes a second channel of signal input in addition to the microphone....
