    Ringing Speakers!

Wasnt to sure where to put this post but i thought this would be the best.
Basically, i was sitting listening to some music and i turnt up the amp and noticed that my speakers give out a very very loud ringing noise when it goes past a certain point of volume

Firstly is it the tweeters or something integrel in the receiver.?

Receiver: Technics SA-DX950 going through a pair of B&W DM110i.

I'd guess it's the receiver, probably clipping or oscillating. So, don't turn it up loud because this can damage your tweeter. How powerful is your amp?

Might try out a different amp, with more power and see how that works.

Waaaay back when I first started with home stereo (age 18 or so?) I had a similar issue. It turned out to be insufficient speaker cable - 18 or 20 guage. I upgraded to larger (better, maybe?) cables and the squeal went away. You might try this just for grins.

Elaborate on what you call "ringing". Is it a high-pitched howling sound ? What is the music source when you hear this noise ? One possibility could be some sort of acoustic feedback. What is the placement of your components ? Knowing these things may help to pinpoint the problem.

How loud are you listening? Could it be your ears
Yeah try unhooking other nearby electronics and signal sources. It could be something else interfering and you just don't notice it below a certain volume.

Probably. Perhaps you are just hearing the corruption of the lossy compression. I hear that with most streaming sites on all my systems.
