I'm looking at buying a vintage JVC LAX3 turntable on craigslist. I'm wondering if anyone has information about this turntable or where to find any information on vintage turntables? Any help would be much appreciated.

There's no information on the LAX3 at either The Vinyl Engine forum, AudioKarma, or Audiogon Bluebook. It is certainly not among the more highly regarded and desirable JVC models like the QL-Y55F, QL-Y66F, and QL-A75.

I know you're looking for JVC but for fun I always look for Thorens tables when I visit Audiogon to see what they have. And I saw a couple Thorens TD125 MkII turntables with nice tonearms. They are asking a lot though. I have this table and I really like it. But for the money they are asking, you'd probably want to buy a new one.

Some people just want those vintage tables I guess and will pay a lot to get them.

Kelly, that's definitely a niche TT. I'd look at some other options, although a quick Google and Yahoo search did turn up lots of replacement belts and stylus/cartridges.
