I've used a pair of the naked autoformers. I used them to raise the 4 ohm nominal impedance (83 db sensitivity) of a pair of speakers to 16 ohms when being driven by a pair of 200W tubed monoblocks. What was readily apparent was the decrease in bass bloat at louder volumes. I haven't tried them with SS amps.Q. -

Im trying to decide whether to go with a tubed cd player like the JoLida jd-100, or cary, sonic frontiers or use my rp-82 as a transport and get a nice dac ead 7000mkIII, bel canto, perpetual..I have a very transparent analog bypass on my pre-pro and need a good source thats smooth and full bodied...anybody... -
Is there any inherent reason a pair of 6.5–7" midwoofers in a conventional isobaric arrangement can't be run cleanly to around 2 kHz?

I simply could not help myself but to snatch what appeared to be the last pair of Ave15 drives from Ascendant. Fundamentally I do not need them, but can you ever have enough bass?
Although my 3-way dipole system (can be seen here ) is not bass shy and it can do 20 Hz at a little more...
