    Worst "First Dance" Song Possible

This is a selfish post, but what the heck...

What do you think is the most inappropriate song a couple could have as their "song"?

I was thinking about using It's a Mans, Mans, World by James Brown or Horrible Day by Frank Black.... Witchy Woman also tempts me.

These Boots Are Made For Walking?

You Give Love a Bad Name?

    You're As Cold as Ice?

    What do you think?
Hello, my name is Eric and I am a music addict.

A first dance song would have to be slow/mid-tempo.

Too Much, Too Little, Too Late - Deniece Williams & Johnny Mathis
Walk Away from Love - David Ruffin
Separate Ways - Mary Davis (former lead singer of '70s/'80s group The S.O.S. Band)
Street of Tears - Black Heat (70s funk group)

She Ain't pretty (She Just Looks That Way)

Actually, any sort of "love" song that mentions a woman's name (but only when the woman in the song has a different name than the new wife)

              You've suggested some wicked choices.

"These Boots Are Made For Walking" projects a violent end to a dysfunctional relationship.
"You Give Love a Bad Name" more or less does the same.
Pretty hard to warm up to anyone who says "You're As Cold as Ice".
But I've never heard a song titled "What do you think". :>)

What you DON'T say may be held against you...

"I'm Not in Love" by 10cc. Have you downloaded that song for evaluation yet Eric?

"It's a Man's Man's Man's World" by James Brown is one of my all-time favourite songs, as long as it's the version off "Live at the Apollo, Vol. II", which must be about 20 minutes long. The girls in the audience are so excited that they're just about wetting themselves. So there are worse songs for couples than that one... lots worse.

I didn't know Doobie Brothers did a song by that name, but that readily brings to mind Evil Woman by Electric Light Orchestra.

And since someone mentioned Genesis, how about their song Misunderstanding?

Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' by Journey (listen to the lyrics and you'll understand)

                          Who's Cryin' Now by Journey

And for a new song that would fit this list: Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood

                              some lyrics sample :

"You suck my blood like a leech, you break the law and you preach
Screw my brain till it hurts, you've taken all my money
                              And you want more...

Death on two legs, you're tearing me apart
Death on two legs, you've never had a heart of your own "

Cheesy - Meatloaf's "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad".

                                  Naughty - Tenacious D's 'F**K Her Gently'.

Silly - "Sex Bomb" Tom Jones.

Unromantic in a romantic sort of way - "With Or Without You" or " I Still Have'nt Found What I'm Looking For" both by U2.

                                  I could go on....

I think it's funny that people still choose Every Step You Take by the Police.

It's a song about a stalker... which is awesome.

Alloroc, I had the same thought about "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". (which actually was written as a gospel song) My personal opinion about "With or Without You", though, is that it's the greatest and most realistic love song ever written. Really expouses the highs and lows of relationships, how wonderful and difficult they are at the same time. Not just roses in the sky...

Amazingly, my wife never had the exposure to the Beatles that I had. She was more an Abba, Chris DeBurgh kind of girl. So when I'd play my play my Beatles Cds, she's moan and groan and after 30 seconds, she'd say... Wait a minutes, they sang that song!?

Anyhow, for me, McCartney wrote some of the sweetest lyrics ever written and 'I Will' is such a sweet song.

                                                  That's quite significant...

Paul sings "I Will" on the DVD "The Space Within US", and does a good job too.

My wife loves The Beatles, even though there's quite a lot of their songs she doesn't know. I think her favourite album is Rubber Soul. She put it on at a friend's place one night a couple of weeks ago, turned up the volume, and people got off their bums and started dancing. Not a bad band really.

These have all been very amusing.

I have one last entry into this...

Sweet Blood Call By Louisianna Red

"It'd be hard to miss you, baby, with my pistol in your mouth."

Mostly about a woman who wants to leave him, but he has this long conversation about he staying while holding a gun on her.

It's a blues song. I think it would have to be the very worst song to possibly play at a wedding, for a first dance. Imagine what the Brides family would think? It would start a riot.

                                                        Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight

"...While generally regarded as a romantic song, "Wonderful Tonight"'s genesis was less than starry-eyed lyricism. Clapton's inspiration came as he grew impatient for Boyd to finish dressing for a party. In that regard, the lyric "You look wonderful tonight" could be interpreted less as a heartfelt compliment and more as a prod to be finished getting dressed. Nevertheless, the subsequent lyrics grow more patient and loving..."
