Nelson Pass has designed some of the best amps in the world. These were actually in his listening room. I don't know if he still uses them. If you read the entire article you will see what else he did to augment the bass response.

That hotlink reminded me of another of my favorite speakers. I used to own a pair of Heil ESS AMT-1 Towers that had a transmission line for the woofer. Rather than get new surrounds the woofers, I sold them. My brother in law still has his pair, along with a pair of Martin-Logan stats.
