Whichever sounds better in your system. All of the pieces need to fit and balance together to sound good to you, the listener.

I am lucky enough to have a hi rez player and a tube/ss cd player and I choose and listen to what sounds good at that particular time, depending upon my mood.

I don't mean to over-simplify things, but go listen and demo and decide for yourself what sounds better to you.

Tube pre sounds better with NatP
      by SQdude
The sound of my NatPs have been a bit thin, so I decided to take my tube headphone amp and use it as the pre to my Onkyo. The difference was immediate, full sound, with deeper/punchier bass, albeit with a slight loss in clarity. What gives? Is it really the 2nd order distortion that makes the tube sound...

      Entry level tube/valve amp advice
      by pedro77
      Hi

I'm interested in getting a tube amp and was hoping someone here may have listened to a couple of the amps I'm considering. I basically got interested when I read some rave reviews about the great value of the Miniwatt S1, which has since been superseded by the N3.

      As...

      by Kevin P
Ok, here's my attempt at a review of my recently-upgraded "Cubicle Audio System", featuring the ASL MG Head OTL tube headphone amp, especially designed to fill my head with great sounding music while I slave away at my PC at work!

Before I get into the details of my new gear,...

Tube or Solid state amp: PrimaLuna ProLogue Two - Rotel RB1070
      by Boombox
I am by no means a hi-fi/home theater equipment reviewing journalist. I live in the real world where kit is not delivered to my door from the distributor for the latest issue of hearmystuffissocool.com or hifioverthetopcostnooption magazine. I am a student using all my savings to buy bang-for-buck new,...

      Tube Pre Amp opinions
      by GregLett
I looking for some thoughts on a Balanced Tube preamp. Since I ultimately want my preamp and amp to be from the same manufacturer I want to stick with manufacturers that make amps tube or SS. So far I've thought of:

      Macintosh C220.
      Balanced Audio VK-3ix
      Audio Research L...
