I recently aquired a set of bookshelf speakers. I have a source. So what do I need as far as ampage? I know nothing about home audio, so please be basic. I don't have a firm budget, I'm looking to find out how much more I need to spend.
Audio noob...what's a good cheap amp?

Energy Connoisseur C-3 Bookshelf Speakers. I haven't heard them yet but I think it's safe to say I'll eventually end up with a subwoofer considering what I listen to. They are going to be sitting in the box till I can afford an amp, so cheap would be good. I saw some stuff on that Super T-amp, that looked decent, but I have a hard time believing it.- Bottom

If you want cheap, the Panasonic XR-55 digital receiver seems like a pretty good setup.
Even though it's primarily a HT receiver, it does have an interesting dual-amp and bi-amp/bi-wire function that's geared toward stereo listening.
IMO it's pretty tough to beat at about $200. I use one in my bedroom second system for stereo and HT.There are some things which are impossible to know, but it is impossible to know which things these are. :scratchhead:

by P-DubWell over this Christmas I set out to build a HT for the bedroom. My wife wanted to watch some of her DVD's and VCD's in the comforts of the bedroom, well so did I. The problem was our existing TV did not have any inputs of any kind. So what we needed was a small TV with video and audio inputs and a...-

by agrippaHello,
I was digging through my work shop a few days ago a ran into 4 of each of the drivers listed below plus a 2 10” daytons, 2 infinity overstock midranges, and 4 JBL(vifa) overstock midwoofers. I don’t have any of the data on the Overstock stuff. My idea is to make 4 bookshelf sized speakers...-

BG bookshelf speakers
For the cost with a ribbon tweeter these seem like a great buy for someone wanting to set up a smaller system on the cheap.

by GirI was looking at some recent deals and came across the Pioneer 2-way bookshelf speakers for only $29.98. My dad was looking for some cheap speakers like these so I thought they might be a good buy. Anyone have any experience with these? Or better yet any measurements?

by Jim85IROCI've got a pair of older sony 2-way bookshelf speakers in my garage currently, but due to the torture of trying to fill a 30' room with bass from a pair of 6" woofers, one finally bit the dust. Sad too, because these cheap guys sounded exceptional for the $100 I paid for them years ago.
