No experience w/ them,
I've "read" the seperate tuners work better than the ones in a receiver. Lot of different Brands out there to choose from......Fanfare.....Magnum Dynalab and many big name brands like Parasound etc.
Many of the old "vintage" receivers and are very affordable and have the classic good looks.Last edited by Patt; 14 May 2005, 05:05 Saturday.......Pat -
I use a separate tuner. I don't listen to radio much outside of the car, so I've just got an old Kenwood tuner.
Parsonsk, it REALLY depends on what you'd like to get out of the tuner. Are you looking for audiophile crystal clarity and willing to pay big $$$? Or just anything to pass a radio signal? Do you need RDS? (text data) Interested in satellite radio?
Receiver tuners in general aren't too bad, as long as you can hook up a decent antenna to it. You won't get any fancy functions, though.

I had a tuner but it was quickly replaced when my local telephone company started providing tv ... their tv has all the local radio channels. Now I use that for my tuner.
Oh yeah, the bonus .. its digital.

The topic of tuners came up over in the outlaw club regarding the new pre amp and I've never used the one in my Denon recevier. So in your oppinion is the inclusion of a tuner a must have or a waste of resources? For me I'd sooner not have it since the only time I listen to the radio is in the car as... -

The new Rotel tuner RDG1520 is going to be available from January 1st as I got informed lately.
Correct me if I am wrong.
There is another model also that will support Satellite and internet radio.
I am not sure about this model though....
