DIY speakers for a 300B SET

Currently using the SB Acoustics ARA in a small room and it sounds nice but I know I can do better. I have been considering the Helios, the Ceramics, and the Jintanis. All by Shazdi and Bagby. has anyone heard any of them using SET tube amps?

    regards,
    John

I've got a pair of Helios, but I'm all solid state. I vaguely remember a comment that the Zmin was around 5 ohms, but I'd have to see if I nabbed an impedance plot to confirm. The tweeter used in that design is Not A Good Value. A Bliesma T34A could hit the Fc without a waveguide and would cost less. However, I went with the pre-canned design since designing my own takes a while.
    Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.

      Helios Build Thread
      by RookieBuilder
Time for a Helios project. Between the sad news of Jeff Bagby's passing and having built his Quarks years ago and really enjoying them I was intrigued by the Helios. I have been wanting to try something with a waveguide and higher end drivers for a long time so this seemed like a great option. I...

      Helios mk1 - A cautionary tale
      by Bear
As I've mentioned in other threads, the Helios design by the late Jeff Bagby (and the not-late Javad Shadzi) is my current project. I am looking for "something reasonable" (put that in a QFD!): relatively high performance, not absurd expenses (~$1k/channel), and something that I can get done...

Exploring Common DIY Terminology - Cone

      Cone

The cone of a loudspeaker driver refers to the diaphragm or membrane that moves air to produce sound. A cone is distinguished from a dome in that it is almost always a concave shape. It is a crucial component responsible for converting electrical signals into mechanical vibrations, resulting in the creation of sound waves. The cone typically consists of several layers and materials, each serving a specific purpose.
