They aren't free - that's true. But it's probably less than it looks like. The granite and the waterjetting was zero cost. I'll pay a little for the edges to be rounded and polished, but not a whole lot.
And the fabric was far cheaper than a decent veneer would have been... less than 90 cents/foot.

Haha. I think I'm gonna take a break and listen to some music when these are done. And then build a new sub. And then build a matching center. Then we can talk :W

No - I have a friend who is a metal worker by trade. He made these for me. I wasn't able to be there when he did it, so I can't even tell you what he used to make those curves. It's a nice little touch, isn't it?

Baffles have been rounded over, but they still need the final polishing. That should happen today or tomorrow. All signs are pointing to this weekend as being a go for getting these finished.
More install shots of the frames here.- Bottom

Some more pictures... Larger versions here. I haven't got them on a scale yet. My scale requires you to tap it first, then wait a few seconds, then step on. But if you don't get on it quick enough, it shuts off. Not conducive to weighing something heavy without handles...

I haven't been able to notice a difference. I will get around to measuring them at some point out of curiosity. I imagine the off-axis response would be more susceptible since the sound is traveling through more of the foam. The absence of a frame helps a lot - no hard edges.
This is the guy that made them. http://www.foamspeakergrilles.com/
If you click on the "testimonials" section, you can see a lot the potential for design elements.
It's a shame to cover all that granite. When the time comes I can just pull off the velcro tabs.- Bottom

by CWH&RI see that Jed from Clearwave will not be offering his DIY speakers to the public soon, Do you think he will be offering the X-over designs as I plan to build the RS kit at a later date. I would like too get a hold of the X-over disigns and build it at my slow pace.-
