Emotiva is very popular. They are a very good bang for the buck value. I haven't heard one, but I trust the opinions of a few of the people that have them.

There are lots of good amps out there. I think any good, quality amp that is 4 ohm capable will be suitable. AVS may be a better (or worse) source of help depending on what you're looking for.

Me personally, I would probably buy the Emotiva for the value and not worry about the amp until I had speakers with Scan Speak level of quality.

Emotiva is closing out their UPA7 7 channel 125W/ch amp for $599 plus free shipping. I'm so tempted.

Thanks Bob, UPA-7 is on reserve. 185 watts RMS x 7 into 4 ohms should be plenty for now.

If you listen to their blog post, it sounds like the UPA7 is selling too slowly, so they are closing them out. They will be getting two more shipments - one this month and one in March - and that's it. When they are gone, they're gone, so reserve one if you want one. They will call you before they ship to get permission to charge your card. They hint that there might be a replacement, but this is such a good deal, its hard to pass up. Even if you only have five channels, use the leftover two channels to bi-amp the L/R pair and it should be more than enough for anybody.
