              Thanks Guys
It was a very fun project. The mirage OM-7's will not be there long. The Statement Mains are on the drawing board.

              Dougie,
My wife & I moved down from Massachusetts 3 yrs ago. I do not miss the cold. Do you know of any local DIYer's?

I know there are not many people who would spend the effort making a jointed box. There was one reason, my dad. He was a wood pattern maker, cabinet maker & liked to make furniture on the side. He was IMHO the perfect blend of engineer & artist. Every day I wake up, & hope I can become ½ the man he was.
My dads’ favorite saying, “Let there be a rhyme and reason for everything you do. Even if it’s wrong, put the thought in.”
So, I know the box & some of my method may look a little pretentious but I do them with a humble heart.
Please, feel free to point me in better directions for my next build. I have learned a number of things to do differently next time.

Awesome build. Great attention to detail. If I might ask though, why two sets of terminals?

Although I will probably never use it, this is by far the most advanced speaker I have come in contact with. (I live a very sheltered life)
As I plan to have these for a very long time, maybe bi-amping would be in the future.
The next steps in my mind are 1. The mains, 2. Seperates (Pre/pro & multi channel amp, I have my eye on emotiva)
Thanks for the compliment. Props to Jim & Curt.

                      David,

Excellent build. Thank you for sharing your project. This is going to help me a lot. I'm currently ordering the crossover and the driver (ribbon tweeter is out of stock ) I'll probably need a few pointers from you. Mines won't be as good looking, I'm hoping to get about 80% of yours.

                      Al,

                        Thank You Al,

Speaker City out of Cali also sells the Fountek Ribbon, But they do not do repairs. This may affect your decision.
Honestly, although I am new to building speakers, I will happy to chime in with my $0.02.
Thank you for the compliment. Props to Jim, Curt, Wayne, & Brian.

                          David,

Why does it need to repair? Is there something wrong with this ribbon? If I'm ordering new from Madisound, does it need a repair? Sorry I'm not aware of this repair issue. Speaker City is just about 15 mins away from me. I might drop by and take a look. Thanks.

                          Al,

                            Al,
                            Hi Al,

No the ribbon is extremely durable. David was referring to a post I made earlier to let everyone know that if they ever did have a problem, Madisound will replace elements in the ribbons they sell for the cost of the ribbon only.

If Speaker City sells them and is close, I wouldn't worry about it and purchase from them since Madisound is out of stock.

                                Hi david,

Absolutely no apology necessary. I didn't know Speaker City sold Fountek. I like doing business with PE and Madisound. They have quality products and great service. However, when they run out, it's nice to have an alternative. Thanks for bringing that to our attention. Also, thanks for sharing your woodworking knowledge with us. I for one, can use a lot of that. I am a very reluctant cabinet builder.

                                Jim

                                    Hi David,

Had a question about your center speaker, what width was of the veneer sheet that you ordered?
It seems my 4'x8' veneer will not wrap my center's sides and front using one cut sheet, didn't think about that when I order it :/

                                    Thanks

                                      Hi,
You are correct. If you want a vertical grain, the veneer sheet needs to be a 8x4, as opposed to a 4x8. In the veneer world, the first number dictates the run of the grain.

But, I did the same thing you did. So...

There is some good news. I book edged a patch on the right side to make up the difference.

I have also seen pics of a few centers that their bulders ran the grain horzontally. My guess is for the exact reason of which you speak.

Splicing the veneer was not as bad as you may think. It was my first try and hardly noticable.

From your pics it doesn't even look like if you used a patch, nice work:T.

I guess I don't have to frown anymore, I can now relax and continue with my build :B

                                              Hey David,

                                              another question

How did you trim the veneer around the driver holes?

                                              Thanks

Hi jygureshi (do you have a name?),

I used a Flush Trim Router Bit similar to this one with the bull nose ground down.

                                                  Thanks David,

I completely forgot about this bit, I hope I can find it at homedepot today.

I think it's coming along OK.

My patch didn't go as well as yours but I can live with it, note the picture doesn't have the patched side.

                                                  Thanks again.
