    CDP-102 variable output?!

The Classé website states, that the CDP-102 has variable analog output. Does that mean you can skip a pre-amp and use this variable output to connect directly to a power-amp, e.g. the CA-2100 or a CA-2200?

If yes, how well does that work? Can anybody perhaps here test that?

Yes it does. I tried it for a while with my CDP-202 but I wouldn't recommend it for the long term. I think I posted some remarks about it a while back.

Hmmm. I've browsed now through about a billion posts but haven't found that one ... Do you remember the context where that might have been?

And why wouldn't you recommend it?

I'll look it up although I don't recall saying too much on the subject in a richly meaningful way.

I think I found it yesterday and the only thing I got from it was, that you were happy to have the pre back. If that was the posting. I'm still not sure, what I'll do ... we'll see. First save some money.

            Variable Phase Control -- Important?
            by 4-iron
            Hello...

I have a Carver TFM-35 (bridged mono @ 700 W/8 ohms) powering an Aurasound 1808 subwoofer (as previously mentioned in an earlier thread). This amp has plenty of power and is also equipped with variable output controls. But I've noticed that many of the subwoofer plate amps available...

            Classe CAP2100 or CP500 / CA2100 ??
            by Edgeyboy
I have an option on an ex dem Classe CAP2100 or second hand CP500 pre and CA2100 power.

            I currently use B&W N804s which I am planning to change to B&W 803S or 803D.

How much better is the Pre Pwr combo than the Classe Integrated ?

Considering this set. It's a 50" LCD HDTV monitor. I guess I have a couple of questions about whether it's the right move. Price is right at 3K. Wonder about going from a 60" to a 50" widescreen, whether my normal TV viewing will be handicapped to bad. I guess widescreen movies take...
