    Parts Express Clearance Sale

    PE has a 20% off sale on clearanced items. Usually this doesn't interest me, but they have had a few Peerless by Tymphany items marked as 'clearance' for a while, despite those items not really being at clearance prices. Well, with 20% off they all of a sudden become interesting.

    JonMarsh Have you looked at the subwoofer? It has a decently high response (allegedly) but distortion is unknown to me. Curious about it, might grab a pair.

      The new owner has been busy with "clearance" items for a while. I think he's emptying the brick and mortar part of PE.

          "New Owner" is news, but then, my attention is taken by many things these days... I'm familiar with some of those parts in the past.

          The P835037 has the kind of characteristics I like, straddling between a subwoofer and a long throw woofer- fairly flat impedance curve below 1kHz, good Xmax (12.3 mm) and other characteristics looking good. Besides, has a nice looking frame and magnet assembly! would be just the thing for another spin on the Ardent concept with 2 - 4 ohm woofers.

                Looks like they're trying to reboot the Epique brand- I've samples and tested some of their earlier parts, but they discontinued them before I could get around to trying a design!

                  I'm not sure getting those Peerless subs is in the cards right now, unfortunately. I think my budget for speaker stuff this paycheck has already been blown on other things, including two pair of the little NE85s. I've always wanted to try making a microspeaker of some kind.

                      Yeah, I find it's always hard to find enough spare change under the sofa cushions to fund the drivers it would be fun to look at up close and personal, but not having a specific use in mind or verified capabilities!
