    Avalon/Soup Build Ideas

    Hi All,

Here is a design I have been working on with Tony Gees assistance via email. Its basically a Soup Sandwich (http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/Soup_Sandwich.html) on top with dual 11" etons using a Hypex8.0 amp module. It could be scaled back to a single 11".

At the moment its a sealed enclosure for the dual WW of 150L, I need to do some modelling in unibox to make sure this is sweet, but going on another builds designs (http://www.dddac.de/op08.htm) seems to be a winner.

Let me know what you think?

The Eton 11" is not that great, take the Eton 12" or use something from Aurasound/ Scanspeak 26W alu (see picture below for Magico Model 6). The Scans work perfectly in a closed box.

Yeah I actually had been thinking of using the 12" instead of the 11"

Which 8" Eton you want to use (with or without heatpipe).

Before anyone can comment on your cabinets, you have to add some extra construction details (panel thickness, joints, bracings, etc).

I don't understand why you are porting the 8" driver. In a sealed box the 8" eton will go low enough to cross to your "subs." Also, why not go with some of the newer technology drivers? The old eton and Accuton units are outperformed by some $50 drivers like Dayton RS and Tangband. For Accuton I'd look into some of the new underhung motor designs, Eton is just a great cone but inferior motor compared to what's offered today.
