I'm probably going to start again...

    Has anyone ever built in-walls?

I'm hoping to move (change residences) in the near future, and I'd like to do more of a media room with an HT slant (as opposed to a play room with lots of speakers, a kinda cool built in DIY equipment rack and a big fat 56" CRT RPTV).

My thoughts/dreams are to have a fixed screen behind a set of power operated vertical blinds, a front projector, and the front three speakers built in to the wall.
What kind of acoustic compromises could I expect by using in-walls - if the application was given the right consideration beforehand?

I'll have typical 16" on center stud space, which could be manipulated ahead of time to accomodate both L&R mains, as well as a center channel speaker, and the screen wall will be backing onto the concrete wall of a basement, but I'd be able to stand the screen wall studs off of the concrete wall by up to 12" to give me space in the rear to allow for loudspeaker enclosures.

I don't know room dimensions yet, nor do I know ceiling height but I'm all ears to anyones suggestions

    Statements behind AT screen?
    by PoorboyMike
I didn't think this was possible but I see that mikela is doing just that.

Just curious because I am currently building a theater that contains a false wall in the front. There is about 5' of space behind the wall. The room itself is about 11' wide and the screen will be 2.35:1 almost...

I recently finished building our new house, and am now getting ready to finish construction on the theater below the garage. The three car garage floor is a 3" concrete slab on top of wood framing, and under that is a 8'7" high space with a poured concrete slab, that houses the house mechanicals...

    New Theater Subwoofer
    by seattle_ice
I am starting construction on a new theater below my garage. My first thought was to do an IB subwoofer, since I have never done one and I would love to try it out. Now I am reconsidering, since we will be selling this house in 3-4 years and I will be building the next one. But then again, it wouldn't...

Worried about my concrete block/mortar wall
    by SteveL
I've got a good jump on my dedicated HT construction, but now I'm starting to worry about things... I'm building the HT in my basement, and it will have finished dimensions of 15' W x 21' D x 8.5' H.

The "front" of the HT will be on the "wall" of my house that is...
