I need a water resistant subwoofer

I plan on using an av12 (first gen) in an IB install. The sub will fire out the rear wall of the boat and sare the same space as the engine compartment. I figure 75ft^3. It doesn't really model well in that application but with the aluminuim cone and rubber surround its the best solution thus far. Any other suggestions? I'll be wiring up the amps and running electrical wire today.

I think using a standard driver inside an engine compartment is a recipe for failure, given the extremely hostile environment. Have you measured the compartment temperatures with the engine operating at full output on a hot day?

Although not cheap Clark Synthesis makes a completely waterproof Tactile Transducer. And Unlike the Buttkicker or Aura units, those made by Clark are actually a fairly broadband speaker. Plus the Clark units are self contained and made from Polycarbonate, so no box needed.

PE sells the Clark Synthesis units

Here is my black sheep suggestion. Get a bunch of cheap
woofers and only install one of them. When it eventually
      breaks, you got extras

Coat the cheap woofer cone {if paper} with lacquer, a few thin coats to make it water resistant.

The driver is not directly in the same compartment though the all walls and underneath the deck are open to the engine compartment. I picked up one of these instead.http://www.clarioncanada.com/en/prod...o/CMSW101.html. I will see. worst case scenario I will have to make a box and mount it externally. If that is the case Then I'll use the stryke otherwise the clarion seems to be up to the task. I'll post my results lol
