    Riser Modification FINALLY!

Hey Gang! I finally modified my riser to bring it up to "appropriate" seating height so folks in the back row can "clean and clearly" see over the front row.

Follow link in sig to see what I did!

It turned out nicely E... I really like that lighting. I still have to get some type of lighting for my riser.

Thanks guys. There's still a few minor things to wrap up, finish new curtains over window, new PJ mount, etc...but the new riser is so much better and it's amazing how much more bass response the back row gets now that it's elevated another 6" or so! :E :T  :B

What is the height & depth of the risers? Also what are the rope lights connected too?

Hey, Tommy, Erik isn't able to come around here as much as he used to, but hopefully he can reply to this! It looks like you're interested in building a riser? Mine is 10" high, which works great, as the side is pretty much a standard-sized step up from the main level. I put, I think, a 1.5" lip around the riser, which after the fact I'm thinking I maybe should have gone with 2", to better hide the rope light I put under it. My rope light is connected to an electrical circuit I ran through the wall from my lighting switch/controller.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Thanks for the reply Chris, the 2" lip is good advice, I wouldnt have thought it need to be more then an inch.

My real question is normal length for a riser though with recliner chairs? I keep seeing that average is about 68" for a chair in the reclined position plus head and leg room is putting it close to 7 foot. Not sure but a 7' long riser just seems to long.

Well, it depends how accomodating you want to be for your seating. If you really want to do it right, and you figure 7 feet of depth space for a fully reclined seat with a person, consider still if you want a fully reclined rear seat to butt up against the wall, or whether you still want a bit of room, such as if you have a 7.1 rear surround setup. Consider where the 1st row is going to be--if the riser starts right behind the 1st row, the 1st row will actually hang OVER the rear riser when they are reclined.

I'll have to measure mine, but I have a pretty good compromise. When everybody's seated, you can PRETTY MUCH fully recline everybody, with the rears virtually touching the rear wall, and the front row hanging over the rear riser. The 2nd row has to sit up if somebody want to get up for the bathroom, but that's no huge deal. You go right back to reclining.

Yea let me know, I'm curious to what a set up like that would measure before starting my risers.
