Have you run Memtest86 yet? Maybe your RAM can't handle the higher speeds for some reason.

Trev, are you running 400Mhz FSB? I've heard some issues with Mobo's running at 400 being VERY picky about the RAM used. Kev might be on to something there.

I have ran Memtest and everything was Ok.
          Th eFSB is at 400mhz.
The Corsair Ram is the Pc3200 which runs at 400mhz stock
so it shouldn't be an issue.
I will change my FSB to 333mhz and see if that runs stable.

            Trev....

Too many new things at once.

You are going to have to start slowly with known quantities.

You have a MB, chip and memory that should do 400 MHz stock.

            Start slowly.

I would probably start with the main board.

Throw an old CPU and memory that has been stable for a while and set BIOS for that. Use a copy of Windows that follows that chip on an older Hard Drive (preferrably IDE). See how windows functions.

            No blue screens?

            great.

Mainboard is fine....move on to memory....

reset BIOS for new RAM (if necessary...set by SPD to be safe)

            see how Windows performs...

            Everything fine?

            Now swap the CPU's

            How's that working?

Now through the raptor's back in. It could very well be a bad setup using the onbaord SATA controller....you just never know.

Do a couple of days worth of testing for each component.

You'll never find the problem unless you systematically test each new component seperately.

Good luck bud, keep us posted.
Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

I ran some tests with the PC3200 and I was crashing.
I put my old ram in PC2700.

It seems to be doing very well with my old ram.
No crashes and no problems so far with running benchmarks.
I also moved some cards around and rewired (just finished)
This has improved air flow. With Seti running my temp is at 44C
It had climbed to 53C before.
This is with PC 2700 (333mhz) running at 400mhz
and my old Barton 2500+ running at 3200+...:E
              How cool is that!!
              TrevorTech is on fire!!
Now if I can figure out how to fix the number pad on my keyboard..:scratchhead:

Bing,,You will need to help tune my PC,,Also figure out what is wrong
              with the PC 3200 ram.

                Sooooo!!!
                Everything seems to be stable.
I have taken out one stick of the Corsair PC3200 ram.
When I insert it into the MB I have blue screen crashes.
This is also when not using the Dual Channel configuration.
So,,it seems that my problem all this time was the stick
                of ram is defective.

Looks like you did some switcheroos there Trev. When you get your replacement Corsair module, are you going to try it in the Stealth again, along with the 3200+?

Is that 50C temp idle or under load?

My Trouncer is currently at 38C/100F CPU, 26C/78F mobo, with SETI running. 40-42C CPU is typical on a mild day with SETI running.

Definately , I will put the PC 3200 memory into my Sliver stealth and run it in Dual channel.

                    50-52c is with Seti running.
Warm, but again everything is OC'd too.

Notice I was using the Corsair ram.
I figured out the timing problem, thanks to the page Bing
had linked before for the Asus Deluxe MB.
I changed the timings from 7-3-3-2.5cas to 6-3-3-2cas
and it worked. I still have no idea what the numbers mean, I just
know I have the right settings according to the guide which was on the
                        website.
                        BingTech!! I bow to you!!

Hey Trevmeister of Doom3, is that Timedemo part of Doom3, or can it be downloaded separately?

                                    Kevin,,It is part of Doom3
You have to hit CTRL-ALT then ~ to bring up
the demo screen once Doom3 has loaded.
Then you type in timedemo demo1 to run the test.
Once it is complete , you are given your FPS.
Very much like the Quake2 timedemo.

There is a Doom3 demo on line for download.
You could download that and then try the above.
It might work , let me know.

                                      In terms of OverClocking,,
My AMD XP 2500+ cpu is stable at 2.25Ghz(XP3200+)
This is a FSB setting of 204mhzx2

Seems I can't ramp up the Multiplier, the CPU does not respond.
This means it's locked. So O/C'ing with increasing the multiplier is out of the question.
Cranking up the V-core also seems to create Blue screen shut downs.

I figured how to increase the FSB to over 200mhz, however I can not boot
up when I do this,,Even if I change it by one increment to 201mhz.
So, Overclocking seems to be something I may not be able to do right now.

The first thing though is to get this PC running stable at stock speeds.
I am having difficulty as I can experience around 2-3 blue screen restarts per day. :M
Strangely enough, this PC is almost made up of parts from my previous PC.
                                        *Asus A7n8x Deluxe Mobo
                                        *Audigy sound card
                                        *Dual 80gig Quantum Fireball HD
                                        *Pioneer 16X DVD

The new stuff is the WaveMaster Case,
                                        *AMD XP 3200+ processor.W/Zalman fan.
                                        *1Gig PC 3200 Corsair Ram.
                                        *Ge-Force 6800 GT 256 meg Vid card.

So , it may be the Ram or Video card that causing me the issues, or possibly
some instability in the MB going from 166FSB to 200FSB.

Anyways, I will run the mem tester and see what that does.
I will also, check for updated drivers to see if such exist.
I will report back the results later.
Once I do get things running without crashes, then I will install the
                                        Raptor Drive.
Update your chipset drivers and adjust your memory timings, ASUS ussually has a fix for that, with the BIOS flashing it to the final version would help.Try to play a game with max settings and see if it crashes your system in the next 5 min and if it does then your chipset is the culprit or otherwise go to video settings and see if Smartgart is disabled, if so then chipset upgrade is needed.Check your timings they might be too agressive, and you might want to underclock your FSB a little.

Kev or Trev .. I have a quick question for you guys..

When you use SATA drives, do you use IDE-0 or IDE-1 to connect your DVD/CD drives? or does it matter...

Yes just select [Auto] in your configuration. Besides you can use both to do multiple RAID with Parralel and Serial, just depends if your using a native OS or a legacy OS. l

If you have any PATA hard drives, connect them to IDE-0 and hook your CD/DVD drives to IDE-1. If you don't have any PATA drives, you can connect the opticals to IDE-0. That's how mine is set up since I have all SATA hard drives.

I can do graphics if I wanted to... only slightly lower scores than yours. I'm just not a gamer though, unless it's Pac-Man or Galaga, and those don't exactly require gigahertz of video and CPU processing...

First off you bought a desktop XP and found out the hard way that its multi-locked. The XP mobiles are unlocked downwards so you can drop the multi and shoot up the FSB to get a better overall performing PC. I picked up an XP-M 2600+ for less than $100 and it does 2.6-2.8ghz on a regular air cooling :T

Second off the ASUS boards arent the greatest for overclockability. They are very stable boards with loads of on board features, but for overclocking the two best Socket A boards are the Abit NF7-S v2.0 or the DFI LanParty II. Both are great for OC'ing and have a LOT of support as far as modded BIOS'es which is a must to push the chip far.

That pc looks sharp though man, happy OC'ing

One of these days I'll open it up and see how salvageable it is. At the very least it'll need a new case, most likely it'll need a new P/S and fans, and worst case I'll be starting all over.

Items up high were melted, but I salvaged CDs that are still good from shelves located higher than the computers, so hopefully there was no heat damage to the computers themselves. It's just the heavy smoke damage that's an issue here.

One of these days I'll open it up and see how salvageable it is. At the very least it'll need a new case, most likely it'll need a new P/S and fans, and worst case I'll be starting all over.
