    Compact Flash cards

I bought a 128 meg CF card tonight since I kept filling up my older 32 meg card and I had the choice between a memorex one that didn't have any speed rating and one that said it was 12X so I got that one instead. Its a "Dane-elec" that I got from superstore but it shows up as a Toshiba card on my XP machine though my card reader. Anway I was curious how much faster it was then the old 32 meg card so I timed a 10 meg zip file transfer from the PC to the card and the 32 meg card was 19 seconds where the 128 was 16...not a huge difference IMO. Have others found there to be a noticeable speed difference?

Andrew, there certainly can be a speed difference between cards. I have read that some cards perform better in other cameras, but the nX speed is still a good indicater of expected performance.

2 cards that I use mainly is a 192mb Sandisk and a 128mb Kodak (made by Sandisk) I have not timed anything but with out a doubt the 128mb card is faster in my Nikon than the 192mb. The camera seems a step more sluggish in response and writting when ever the 192mb card is in place.
