HTPC users...new "silent" power supply on the market

    SilenX Power Supply <14dBA
Amazing performance, truly silent in operation

The power supplies offer the quality and reliability that you need for mission critical applications. Plentiful cables and a generous amount of overhead for the most demanding systems. Built to tolerate environments that exceed its own specifications, sometimes by as much as 50%, these power supplies are rugged and built to withstand what you throw at it!

Interseting... I'm re-building my living room HTPC, well, more like building a new one, since as I've gotten started, I decided to even replace the case, which doesn't leave much left from the original system!

In fact, now the original system could be re-built as a new desktop, come to think of it! Guess I'll wait for an Athlon 64 MB for that...

Not much info on the site re resellers- I wonder if this would out perform and be quieter than the Antec Truepower supply I have... any experience with these, Gordon?

    Best regards,

    Jon

Sorry Jon...I've had no personal experience with this ps. My trupower is pretty darn quiet but there's always room for improvement. Ahanix definitely makes some quality stuff if the DVine series of cases counts for anything.

But until measurements have been made and this has been field tested...it remains an unknown. I Certainly like the specs though

I just finished rebulding my living room HTPC, using an Antec Truepower also; it's dual fan setup is very quiet, meets my needs just fine.

Note that the dual fan configuration allows slow fan speeds with low noise but good air movement. I'm skeptical of claims of lower noise and equivalent power performance with a single fan- but then my day job is a power semiconductor EE, for a company that supplies components and reference designs to the companies that make PC and server power supplies! I've taken quite a few of these apart- PC Power and Cooling and Antec are my favorites, follwed by Enermax.

The electrical performance is first rate, also an important factor, IMO. :B

        Best regards,

        Jon

Yup, that Antec is the power supply in my family pc as well. I like it a lot. Highly recommended.
