Could this be Gordo's next case?????

    High Ventilation Aluminum-Mg Alloy Case
    Front Blue Faceplate
    Clear Acrylic Glass Front Panel
    3 Clear Acrylic Glass Windows
    4 Front USB Port
    1 Front Firewire Port
    1 Front Microphone Jack
    1 Front Earphone Jack
    5 x Case Fans
    Slide Out Mother Board Plate

What do you think guys...I'm open to suggestions...although Lian-Li as beautiful as it is doesn't float my boat because most of my peripherals are PC beige and beige on aluminum....quite frankly

So if your not Bing or have Bing's super-cool moddin' talents the next best bet is something with a splash of colour.

Now I prefer access for several case fans 120mm is better but not critical...Could care less about a window but the better cases all seem to have them :x and thus you pay for that.

    Let me see 'em

Looks like a nice case Gordon. Dare I ask how much those are going for?

I'm by no means a modder, however, I painted my CD, DVD , & floppy faces. They pop right off with no problem and the hardest part about spray painting is waiting for it to dry.
Some of the mod shops on the net even sell pre-painted faces for the most common drive brands.

No don't ask....

Bigfoot's got them for $270 CDN 8O which is big bucks...and I don't generally advocate that kind of cash on a case but it does look nice. I'm passing through Toronto in the fall and could probably pop-in person to save on shipping....but then again MLH may have a nice local alternative.

another case that looked interesting to moi was

the ThermalTake Xaser (which I know I can get locally)

Yah...I know I can paint the faces...I'm being lazy I guess....so many other projects this summer...including painting the kitchen, hallway, and basement that if I tell my wife I'm wasting time painting computer components that would be my end

Here's another possibility that is resonably priced ($120 CDN) :

              Choices choices....

              Details:

              Also $120 CDN

You give up dual front and rear fans but you gain a temp gauge and nice covers for drives and controllable case fans....hmmm

              this is getting tough.

Thanks for the accolades Gordon :amen:

Those Kinwins are very nice looking cases and I have often envisioned what could be possible with one of those. The price is steeper than your standard generic case, but in a way think of it as an investment in a piece of hardware that may serve you for many motherboard upgrades to come.

One thing to note on the Kingwin is it has 3 windows on it, while this adds to it's stunning good looks immensely, it does require carefully and neatly placed wiring, nothing would distroy it's good looks faster than a rats nest of wiring. The Kinwin has no place where wiring could hide. I would love to tackle wiring one of those

The Thermal Take Xaser is reputed to be one of the hottest selling cases for all the features it packs. It's based on the same case as the Antec Dragon (Trevor's case Blue Zone), or ChenMing, Chieftech cases. TT packs it with some more zoot features.

                Have fun with your choices

One thing that surprised me recently- I hadn't been into a CompUSA in ages (gee, do they have CompCanada, too? :W ), and they had quite a selection of "botique" cases and cable accessories, including the Lian Li case posted above. I was rather surprised.

OTOH, at our local store, you can't buy a really decent video card to save your life (unless you lusting after Radeon 7500 or 9100 repackaged by Comp)- not even a mid range Ti4200 sort of beast.

But they did have a good selection of portable bags, and they have the Sony Viao GRV670 series desktop replacment laptops I've been lusting over (think 16" SXGA 1280X1024 screen, 2.6 GHz P4, 512 MB DDR, Radon Mobility 7500, DVD/CDRW combo drive - under $2k).

That's a modded Antec (sourced by Chieftec) case. Very sturdy case, well made. Heavy too.

I still like your first option. Aluminum cases are just very nice.

Yeah I like that one 2 but I think it would be alot of work to do it just right.

Bing brings up a good point about 3 windows. I'm not anti-window or anything...quite the contrary...but if I got a window I would be obligated to do it right and I could just see my wife rolling her eyes when I get the sound activated cathode tubes and the lighted fans...so it's just easier to avoid that conversation all together...if you get my drift

Gordon, cut loose with braided cables, and sound activated cold cathodes.... You know you want it

Jon, stop lusting and pick yourself up that Sony GRV670

I know what you mean, it seems most computer stores offers some custom case these days. Even at London Drugs (Canadian pharmacy that sells all types of electronics like a mini Best Buy) stocks LED fans and cold cathode lights. They even have a Dual AMD 2000XP machine that has the LED fans, cold cathode lights and side windows all housed in a Antec Dragon case :? What kind of casual buyer is that targeted for? Anybody whos to buy such a serious machine would probably build it themselfs. I would like to know how many of these systems they sell....

That's a nice case Gordon, I'm with the Goose though. I tend to like the smaller mid sized Aluminum towers (~18" ) rather than the full size Antec towers (~20"+) It all personal preference,

Ya know...I must be losing it...because there is one other case that I think is pretty cool but mucho dinaro...like $400 beans CDN 8O 8O 8O 8O

I call it the Star Wars case, though I liken it to a Pontiac....either you like their stylings or you hate it.

I think this is tre cool but I would have to put all my eggs in a basket and wait till X-mas to justify the cost...."look honey it's a one time purchase thing (at least till they change the ATX spec )"

                            Check it out:

There's a cool review on Gideon Tech...read it here:

Course a more traditional look is the 5189 and if you want temp monitoring and a bay bus add in the nexxus

It may take till X-Mas to sort this all out

                              Gordon,

The angled Enermax, while super cool looking, has gotten pretty bad reviews. The angled design makes drive mounting a bit more challenging and I believe there were some complaints about airflow. Try a google search for reviews.

That LCD faceplate thing is cool.

Hmm Trevor you've given me an idea. The thermaltake although loaded with features has a few extra fans than I really need and hardcano 9 is good but I can do better with the nexxus I think...

So I've lined up someone to buy my old case and power supply and I'm going to go with the Antec 1080 AMG

Nexus Fan Controller connects up to 4 fans and allows you manually adjust the fan speed and noise level.  The fan speed is determined by the variable speed potentiometer settings which vary the voltage of the fan from 7V-12V. Each channel will support 15-18W.  Blue LED lights combine perfectly with the Black or Silver housing.  Nexus Fan Controller is great for Large CFM fans and fits perfectly in your standard 5'25" drive bay.

In the wash I pretty much have the XASER III less a window...but the window is an option with this case.

Then I'm ready for the AMD 2800 or 3000 next year

Oh heck I'll probably get that in December.

I'll let you all know when it comes in. There's some backorder on these products.
