Wow...It hits 100 MPH .1 seconds before my car hits 60 MPH. That's scary fast.

It means, Lex, that you don't have the right codecs on your system to decode the video stream- neither does my NT4 system here at work.

And the IT guys wonder why I usually use my own computers for most things at work.

Actaully, the really sick thing is that my desktop at work IS one of my own computers, because my 5 year old 200 MHz PPro "company" computer died a year ago, and with our budget restrictions, I couldn't get it replaced with anything worthwhile at work. So I brought the oldest, cruddiest Intel computer I had at home- a 733 MHz PIII I built for a trip to Munich and as an audio test PC. It's not used for the latter, because my "old" 600 MHz Athlon smokes it.

Anyway, early next month they're going to totally new central controlled user configurations; every piece of software and configuration has to fit within a company designed profile for your job- so if some loon in San Jose or Munich doesn't understand how I or other Application specialists do our job, we've been told we may have to have TWO bootable hard disks which we exchange in the system as a work around-
        • One with company standard configuration and software
        • another with the design tools and other stuff we use to get the more esoteric parts of our job done- i.e., engineering design tools!

When's the last time you actaully heard of something this stupid? It's a shoo in for a Dilbert tip/hall of shame, don't ya think?

But it will make life easy for IS- heaven forbid that productivity of their users should be a concern!

Gee, I guess I better quit ranting like this- a bad example to set for a Thursday afternoon.

        Regards,

        Jon

Lex...Hummm :?:  Maybe insure that Windows Media player has "Automatically Download codecs" checked. I don't know why everyone is having problems with this one. It really is worth it as it's the best i have seen yet on this car 8O

Jon, that is just too funny, you had to bring in your trashiest PC to work because what they provide you is not up to snuff. I have joked about that before, but you live it my friend. What is even funnier is your trashiest PC is a 733Mhz P3..heheh

          far from being trash....

            by PewterTA
I just received this in the mail today and I was curious if any of the PA'ers or WV'ers or OH'ers wanted to check out some cool gear and possibly get some new stuff?! Just so we are all clear too, I am not affliated with AudioVisions in anyway, so I'm not here trying to tell anyone to buy anything,...

For those of you interested in learning a bit more about TAG McLaren Audio, there is a 12 page article in the September 2001 issue (#52) of Widescreen Review. Editor-In-Chief Gary Reber travelled to England and visited both TAG McLaren Audio and some of the facilities of the TAG McLaren Group.

I spun this movie on DVD yesterday. Disregard my title above.....It's called "On the road"!!. It stars some notable actresses (K. Dunst and that lead from the Twilight series of films.....forget her name!!?....Stewart??.). Anyway, this film is a dud. Period!. It's goes nowhere right from...
