AMD's engineering sample of their forthcoming Sledgehammer or Clawhammer (can't be sure which is pictured) CPU & motherboard.

About this time next year I'll be putting a Clawhammer in my Lian-li. I cannot wait.

Sweet, unfortunetly my next board will be with in the next month or so, precluding a Hammer system as my next

Lex, that is an AMD reference board for the upcoming Claw Hammer CPU from AMD. Key points are 64 bit architecture, 754 pin count to accomadate HyperTransport communications between the North and south bridge, AMD-8000 chipset supporting the HyperTransport AGP3.0 Graphics Tunnel with AGP-8X support.

The Claw Hammer processor is said to be based on a .13 um core, with clock speeds speculated to start around 2.0 Ghz, Q4/2 ETA...

I will probally upgrade to a Via KT333 with XP for the time being, skip the Claw Hammer and go with Sledge hammer (CPU after the Claw with 940 pin count). Thats my story and I dare my self to stick to it

I don't know...It sounds to me like Sledgehammer will be a bit pricey. Obviously, AMD is targeting the server market for Sledgehammer so I can only assume that includes a server-like pricing structure.

The extra cache of Sledgehammer would be nice but I think Clawhammer will be fast enough to put a smile on my face. Double the speed of the XP2000 will turn a lot of heads.

              Nice Motherboard,,
Looks like those that just finished building a system can will need to start again soon.
I am speaking on behalf of Bing on that.

Heheh, well Trevor bought me this router see...

So I though it's time to build another PC so I can start a home network.... It's going to be a slow build as I'm working on the case first, then the guts. I really don't need a faster PC, but it may as well be based on the KT333, or maybe a P4 Northwood... Not just sure yet.

                Check out my Lian-Li Post.

Time for you to upgrade as well Trev, I'm sure that new PC has some dust on it....

Sili in a years time it will be time to upgrade again, so what ever is current, Claw, Sledge what ever it takes

It'll certainly be good to know you guys will be building a _Hammer based system at the same time as me. We can all post about our screw-ups at the same time...or at least I can :?

I've decided not to upgrade anything untill then. I'll upgrade my GF3 at the same time. That gives me a year to convince my wife that my current monster isn't nearly fast enough.

                      LOL!

Yea, I guess if my wife can stomach a new mobo every other month she should have no problem upgrading to Hammer (especially if she gets the Thunderbird).
