As promised in the thread at Xtreme Theater, here is a report on the modification of my Elsa Gladiac video card.
Tonight I finally got up the gonads to modify my card.
As soon as I fired up the projector the difference was noticable, and not in a small way!!
Fine detail is better, Text has a sharper edge, clothing textures are better defined, the overall picture is simply clearer!!!
If your running a high resolution (or maybe even high refresh rate) this mod is worth doing, or paying to have it done.
Tools needed are: Alot of light, magnifying glass, pin point tip and solder station, small pliers, small tweezers, flux (I use water soluble) and solder (I use lead free 4% silver), a tiny jewelers screw driver for applying flux to tip of jumper wires and inductor leads.
Tin your wires, prebend and fit them, use the small needle nose pliers to hold jumpers in place and as a heat sink, to keep the soldered end from unsoldering, wire jumpers are very short!
Well worth the stress!!!Kenny
