    remote actuator to move lens

I've assembled a Constant Image Height front projection system and need help finishing the last part of the project.

I have a prism based lens that expands a verticlly stretched image for this system. The lens is mounted to a sled that slides the lens into the path of the light and slides back if not needed. I have found some actuators on line and need some help on assembling a remote control actuator that will move the lens back and forth via IR commands or triggers. The weight of the lens is minimal as it is supported by the sled. It will only move about 6" to be out of the way of the light path.

I'm not sure where to start.Thanx

KG, have you thought of using the IR control system out of an old CD player that would have the eject and close feature? Everything you need would be there to control the start and stop, you would just need to tell it when it needs to stop by micro switches or a timing device.

after a little thought, you may be able to skip the actuator all together and just use the motor assm from the transport mechanism.....

I like it ! Do you think it would be hard to single out the circuit that controls the drawer. This is very exciting.

So, the circuit would reverse the polarity on the little DC motor that drives the drawer.Icould use relays to bump up the ability to handle higher voltage and current.

Now, i need a junk CD player....hehehehe :B ...with a good drawer circuit

I dont think that it would be hard to take the circuit out, if you can find and older Rotel, like a 955AX, they have mechs that are built like tanks and are made of metal.

Anamorphic Optoma Lens or Panamorph Lens?
            by speakerboy
Hi, I have an opportunity to buy a used and well discounted demo Optoma lens and sled. I emailed Panamorph and they mentioned that the Optoma is a bit older and the current Panamorphs have some improvements. What they are, I don't know yet. I'm still waiting to hear back.

            So the question...

            Acoustic Lens

An acoustic lens refers to a device or structure designed to manipulate the direction, dispersion, or focusing of sound waves. The term is inspired by the concept of optical lenses used in optics to manipulate light. The primary purpose of an acoustic lens is to modify the propagation characteristics of sound waves, enabling control over their distribution and spatial behavior. Acoustic lenses can be implemented in various forms, including physical structures, signal processing...

This is more a first impressions post than a full review. I'll give a basic comparison of what I was using to this PJ, realizing this is about a 1K more expensive unit.

The View Sonic 4:3 800 X 600 LCD pj I own is a nice little entry pj. It has some really nice functionality about it....
