I just downloaded these so far so good I hate Norton and McAfee had to try something new. What do you guys think of Microsofts Spyware/Virus protection?

There is not much love for Microsoft in many circles, but I am of the understanding the spyware product is good. Have not heard much yet about the anti-virus software.
I use the F-Secure security suite provided by my ISP because it's free - well, not really, but included in the price anyway.
I've not had much issue in the past with Norton stuff, but my experience with McAfee is not too good. Seemed to work OK from a protection standpoint, but it always seemed to be a hog. Just about any time my computer acted doggy, looking at the processes nearly always showed McAfee hogging up some CPU for no apparent reason. There are some things which are impossible to know, but it is impossible to know which things these are. :scratchhead:

Whoaru99,
I really like the defender from Microsoft my computer seems to be running crispy fast. As you said McAfee is a hog my system was so sluggish and its like a virus it kept coming back when I didn't want it. Windows Defender keeps it off thank God. I don't like Norton either it conflicted with to many of my programs. Defender will come standard on Vista I believe.Blake- Bottom

I also like Windows Defender at least thus far, it certainly isn't a memory hog like McAfee. I run Norton Anti-virus only, because it is provided by my company, but none of the other s/w provided in the Norton systems work package. MS always had individual's looking for Security leaks in their software, therefore I like the redundacy of a non-MS product. Just my humble thoughts.
Peace and blessings,
