Acer TravleMate Laptop - How do I create a restore disk?

I didn't realize that my laptop didn't come with a Windows XP disk, and I screwed it up, and had to pay my local computer dealer to get it restored.

Apparently I was supposed to create a Restore Disk at the beginning..... I seem to remember that....... but I thought I had a proper XP disk if I needed it......... but NO..........!!!

So, can anyone tell me how I'm supposed to create a Restore Disk for my laptop?

I can ask the dealer tomorrow, but I thought I'd be able to find it easily on the computer......... but I can't.

I was told that somewhere hidden on the hard drive when you get the computer is a virtual restore disk that gets copied to the CD when you make it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, apparently this Restore Disk only allows you to reformat everything and install Windows XP and whatever Acer programs were on the computer when I got it.

If I can't do it myself, I'll get the guy at the computer shop to do it for me, but that means a drive downtown.

    Thanks! :T

There should be a utility somewhere to create them. Usually it's off the Start menus somewhere, poke around in there, especially if there's a folder of Acer utilities somewhere.

Check online for documentation as well.

I don't know why computer makers don't include a real XP disc with computers anymore. They're paying MS for the license, the disc should come with it (or at least for a minimal added cost, like a buck if even that).

Thanks, Kev. You're right. There was a folder on the HD marked Acer and it had the Recovery program to create a DVD disk. Thanks! :T
