    New Harmony owner question

Just purchased my father a Harmony 659 remote (Father's Day). My question is - Does the LCD ever turn off? After I use it, the Harmony name/logo remain on the remote - is this normal? Does it drain the batteries faster?? Should I be concerned - Help!

    Thanks

My 510 does turn off, but only if left for a few hours and there is a shock sensor to turn it back on if you pick it up.

That said... As long as the backlight turns off, LCD screens don't suck up that much electicity (think pocket calculator).

I have had the 659 for over a year - great remote. The LCD DOES stay on all the time. However, that doesn't seem to affect battery life - I've only replaced the batteries twice so far.

I understand that earlier 659s had a battery life issue, but a firmware update fixed it. The first time you logged on to the Harmony site with the remote connected via USB, the latest firmware version should have been downloaded automatically to your remote, so no worries re battery life.

        Harmony remote with RSX-1056?
        by stantheman2
I have owned the RSX-1056 for almost a year but have never liked the remote - I have to reset every time I want to use the OSD, I sometimes have to enter commands multiple times, etc. I saw the Harmony remotes (659, 688, and 880) and was intgrigued by the Internet-based programming and seeming good...

I am looking to upgrade my Harmony 659 and have these 2 choices in mind. How do these compare for quality and accessability.

I do like my Harmony remote now but it seems to be eating the batteries. I change them almost every month. I hope this is not a commen problem with Harmony or...

        Odd RSP-976 remote issues...and a fix!
        by DrJazz
I just wanted to share an odd experience I've been having with my trusty old RSP-976 surround sound processor. For quite some time now (well over a year, maybe more) I've been having one helluva time with the remote control. Specifically, the 976 would only respond intermittently to volume up and down...

Logitech removes features from Harmony Remotes!
        by chasw98
I have had Harmony remotes for more than 4 years now and up until yesterday I have been very happy with their functionality. They have allowed me to have a complex system that the family could operate.

Logitech has deemed it neccesary to remove the capability to send multiple commands...

Products: Rotel 1066 and RR-969 remote Control

I am at the tail end of adding a Logitech Harmony to my parents' Home Theater.

They have a Rotel 1066 receiver along with the Rotel RR-969 remote.

Zone 2 works great when accessed via the front Zone button on...
