Finally Bought A New Laptop Tonight

Well, I finally broke down and pulled the trigger on a new laptop for the house. I've been kicking this around for about a year now, and since Jen is telecommuting from here 3 out of 5 weeks, it needed to be a decent one.



Dell XPS M170
Pentium M 760, 2 GHz/2 MB cache/533 MHz FSB
2 GB dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM
120 GB internal hard drive - 5400 rpm (7200 would be nice but that put me over budget)
17" Ultrasharp UXGA widescreen panel
GeForce Go 7800GTX video card
8x CD/DVD burner - dual layer write capable
Intel ProWireless 2200 network card
Logitech G7 wireless mouse

Now I just have to wait 2 weeks or so for it to get here. :dancenana:

Congrats on your the new laptop!
A 7200rpm hdd wouldn't be too bad for the price? I got mine a 100gb 7200rpm over the xmas for $130, I think it would be cheaper for just upgrading from a 120gb 5400 to 120/7200?

Get the face tracking webcam so you will not complain for not seeing each others' face :B

Hey Vinny, we actually laugh about the fact that we get a 2-week vacation from each other every 3 weeks. It gives us a chance to realize we still miss each other! :B

Looks like a nice laptop; probably similar to my Inspiron I bought not long ago. I definitely like it. 17" widescreen isn't the most portable, but it's what I needed, too. I had a hyper-threading desktop before, but the M (at a lower speed, though I know performance is different..) doesn't drop off at all. Enjoy
