    Harmony Remotes

I currently have the Harmony 628 and I love it, but I just seen the new 880 Harmony online. Does anybody have any reviews on this model. From the picture I dont think I like the button layout. Everything is too conjested. I like to be able to pick my remote up in the dark and know what button I am pressing without using the light function. The screen does look appealing though. But with it costing triple the price of my current model is it worth it?

I have the 880 and I love it. The light up function is the best part, since it is automatic. It lights when you lift the remote into a vertical position and shuts off 10 seconds after being put down. The layout and feel is very intuitive and well spaced even though it may seem "congested" to you. My wife liked it so much that I went and got a 659 for the master bedroom and I think that it's layout stinks by comparison to the 880. It also doesn't have the automatic glow function.

I'd say that the 880 is worth the money, and the 659 at half the price isn't.

Just finished my test drive of the 880 and it is a keeper. I can't find anything that is truly bad about the remote. If I had to point out something bad, I guess it would have to be the process of updating the remote with a new piece of equipment. However, it is nothing more than a few clicks of the mouse. The customer service is great and the remote is a great conversation piece.

I've been looking at the 880 and the 676 - I'd love to get the 880 but the only problem is the rechargable battery on it - I'm using a RF-to-wireless converter that replaces a AAA or AA battery in the remote with the wireless converter + a tiny battery

Not a major quibble for most, but since its key for me placing my equipment in a closed equipment closet it steered me away from the 880 into the 676.

If the 880 had a way to replace that rechargable with a standard battery I'd be all over it. Much sexier, but the 676 gets the same job done very nicely.

I just got this remote. For the normal person that just needs to turn things on and off I think it is a great remote. Now if your needs are very specific and your a picky person such as my self you'll find yourself at the computer for a long time. I also found I had to manually setup each device cause the harmony database puts in too many codes for each device as well. I think my reciever had 14 pages of commands and when I was done reprogramming them I had 5 pages. Most of the hard buttons were incorrect as well. Once all the glitches were taken care of anybody can now use my stereo and HT system.

            Harmony 520 and TC-30

Whose excited about the new Harmony remotes? The 520 is lovely looking though it lacks the color screen and the number of activity buttons that the 880. However the soon to be coming TC-30 will address those issues. Both the 520 and TC-30 look so much nicer than the other recent remotes including the 880.

                Harmony remote with RSX-1056?
                by stantheman2
I have owned the RSX-1056 for almost a year but have never liked the remote - I have to reset every time I want to use the OSD, I sometimes have to enter commands multiple times, etc. I saw the Harmony remotes (659, 688, and 880) and was intgrigued by the Internet-based programming and seeming good...

                HARMONY 880 Universal Remote
                by DrJRapp
Earlier this week I picked up a Logitec Harmony 880 universal remote to replace my now defunct Sony RM3000 which had been dropped one too many times. Simplicity in a remote is the key criterion here since my wife is a technophobe when it comes to audio and I have a 15 YO step son who already blew out...

I am looking to upgrade my Harmony 659 and have these 2 choices in mind. How do these compare for quality and accessability.

I do like my Harmony remote now but it seems to be eating the batteries. I change them almost every month. I hope this is not a commen problem with Harmony or...

I'm trying to decide on a universal remote that's easy to program, easy to use, and doesn't break the bank but controls everything I want it to the way I want it to. Does anyone out there have experience using either of these remotes with their Rotel gear, particularly the Harmony? I'd like to save...
