Music PC with a USB adaptor

    Hello all,

I am using a pc as my front end for a 2 channel audio setup. I am thinking about using a usb to spdif adaptor as a 'transport' into my pc. What could I use as a control device that would allow me a synced interface between my remotely located pc and my listening room?

    It needs to be silent.

Being able to sort through music libraries and create playlists will be it's main function.

    Thanks

Your last sentence narrows your choices a bit! Either a Squeezebox or Soundbridge gives you remote playlist control. Otherwise, Apples AirTunes with an Express Remote may be OK.

How much money? I have a nice setup that I'm very happy with. I spent about $100 for EVERYTHING. Computer, cable, etc. Here's what it consist of:

Old PIII system with Hercules sound card -> optical connection from card to my stereo
video card with tv output -> long cable connecting to tv
Meedio software to view album titles, playlist, etc on your tv
SnapStream remote -> long USB cable with IR sensor for remote in your stereo room
Girder to control Meedio using your SnapStream remote.

It took me a bit of time researching what items I needed, but now that it's complete it's the best thing I've done. I have 600 of my CDs in the palm of my hand.

I'll post pics later of what it looks like. Let me know if you're interested of if you have any questions.

          Apple AirTunes sound Quality

Does anyone have experience with Apple AirTunes? I’m referring to the ability to stream music from iTunes to an AirPort Express or the new Apple TV. Both use 802.11n for wireless connectivity. I’m currently using a MacMini as a music server and I was thinking of adding an AirPort Express to be...

This is kinda cool. The USB feature is really interesting--automatically converts to a digital audio file?

Anyone that is looking to improve the sound from their media pc, be it Windows, Linux, or MAC... (and hasn't spent a ton of money on some other USB to SPDIF solution)... I highly recommend taking a look at the solution from Mutec.

The new MC-3+ USB is 'essentially' the original MC-3+ Master...

          USB issue with RSX-1562
          by Paladin_1977
          Hello,

I am writing this post since I have contacted Rotel about my issue two times and have not heard back from their support.

It appears that my front USB port is not working correctly. I have tried the Rotel dongle or direct cable connection with my IPhone while the...

Well I guess it's true... a USB cable can make a difference.
          by PewterTA
This is the third upgrade I've done. My original cable was just a cheap USB cable I got from who knows where and it worked sounded good and no complaints.

This all going to my Musical Fidelity V-Link 192.

Then I upgraded my usb cable to a Wireworld Ultraviolet cable and...
