    PC remote?

I was online today looking at remotes(probably going to buy the MX-700) and I started thinking if there was a remote for a PC. I came across the Soundgraph iMon and after reading the review wondered if it was able to turn the power on for the PC(as the power switch on a case is merely a wire that is power/ground jumper on the mobo). The iMon has IR receiver that mounts in the 3.5 External Enclosure in a PC case and I wonder if it has that. I read up on some other remotes, but they seem to only power on the PC from stand-by mode, but I would like something that could turn the machine from a cold boot(then use the learning functions on the MX-700 and have it do the same thing). Anybody have any thoughts on this?...I'm sure somebody has at least try to accomplish this mod.

I have the iMon, but my IR receiver is the big 'eye' that plugs into the USB port. With the computer off, there is no power to the eye therefore it cannot be used to turn on the PC. I don't think that would work with the internal IR receiver either. I assume that is the one that is coupled with the VFD.

havent heard of such kinda remote, but as a workaround you can always buy a remote power switch, it will turn ON/OFF the power to the plug, to which if you have connected the PC, will turn the power ON/OFF. (But dont forget to gracefully shutdown the OS before you turn off the power).

As an other alternative, if you have a pocket PC with terminal services, you can remotely using Bluetooth do these things, but doing a cold reboot will still be a challenge.

These things are possible through a network "WOL" but have not come across one for a Standalone desktop.

        12v trigger power strip
        by garak
I have some cooling fans that I'd like to turn on when I turn on my pre/pro.

Do any of you know of a power strip that can turn power to its outlets on by using a 12v trigger?

        Thanks in advance.

MX700 Remote - software "live update" behavior?
        by netarc
So I _finally_ got around to programming my MX700 remote last night (ahem ... it's only been, what, ~2yrs - funny thing is I've been programming clients' remotes right&left, just never seemed to find the time to do my own!).

Have a question re: the MX-Editor software. The Parasound...

Rotel 1098 remote is controlling my NEC HT 1000
        by CSMAB
The remote for the 1098 is trying to control my NEC HT 1000 projector. My NEC is on standby mode until it receives a signal from the NEC remote to power on. For some reason every time I press a button on the Rotel remote the NEC is reading the signal and trying to interpret it. This is annoying since...

        Rotel RR-1050 remote control question

Has anyone figured out how to turn on your components without messing up the device/input buttons? I was able to get a device to turn on after programming it, but then the receiver would not change to the correct imput. How are you suppose to use the macro buttoms if you cannot program your devices...
