Ok so I've now got this nice 15.4" widescreen laptop and I figured lets see how movies look on it...only to find that I can't seem to get them to fill the screen as they're all letterboxed. I've maximized the window and told WMP to go full screen but it seems to be stuck thinking that i have a 4:3 aspect ration screen...any work arounds for this?

This machine uses the new integrated Intel video card so its using the latest drivers from the Dell site. I have Power DVD and they play at full screen using that software so I think there has to be a setting somewhere in WMP to get past this issue.- Bottom

Andrew, I'm not sure whazzup. I thought there was a setting in WMP for that, but I just checked and I can't find it. Mine automatically shows widescreen on my widescreen Dell.

I'm running version 10.00.00.3646, which is the latest. Is that what you're asking? The WMP seems to interact with my Power DVD also, which I've updated to Version 6 Delux. (also the latest and greatest with DTS support, etc)
Mine has always run full screen with widescreen material, though, since I first got the laptop.

I am having the same problem. So far it appears that there isn't any aspect ratio control on the player.- Bottom

by heapatroubleSo, recently, I've been having problems with WMP being excuciatingly slow ripping CD's - literally taking hours to do a 320kbps rip of a 40-minute cd. I don't believe I have added software which has created a conflict that causes this glacial pace, but, before I lose it and do a clean install of the... -

by Andrew PrattI'll preface this rant upfront by saying that although I'm picking on Wal-Mart it applies equally to most of the big stores I've been into but since I'm at Wal-Mart everymorning I see it going on there more then anywhere else.

From what I been reading, it seems that 4:3 tvs are still in bigger demand than widescreen models. Why hasn't widescreen tv caught on ? I don't own one, I confess, but I have a dedicated HT with front projection, and any tv fare is usually watched elsewhere in my home. But it seems to me that widescreen... -
