    Screen manufacturers

Doesn anyone have a good comparison of the different screen manufacturers, such as Da-lite? I am probably going to purchas one of their screens, but want to be sure its a good product.

hi mate, i only have used and seen the 92" draper luma in a matt white and the grey finish using the sanyo plv z1 & z2 projectors, to me the grey is by far better on both projectors as it gives much blacker blacks and best of all if you cant get a completely black out room it is far more forgiving than a white screen.

Da-Lite makes very good quality screens. As does Draper, and Carada. Stewarts are better, but they are many times the price, so they should be.

The one issue you may encounter with Da-lite is their shipping package is a cardboard box of questionable integrity for shipping a heavy long item like a screen. Mine arrived completely undamaged (although with footprints up and down its length, especially on the "fragile" markings), as did my neighbor's, but our UPS guy is an underachiever in parcel abuse compared to some I've read about. The upside to this is Da-Lite is pretty good about getting you a replacement if Brown tweaks your screen, and I've only heard from a couple of people online of this happening.

In other words, go for it.

I've had good luck with Da-Lite, but I am sure all the screens out there are pretty good. And Carada is a sponser here, so they should be high on your list.

Da-Lite is good value, and no, it's not a Stewart. But they do a decent job of "borrowing" screen technologies. The biggest complaint; on their screens some times you will see a sparkling of light-not as uniform as the Stewart. To save money, go with the Perm-Wall as opposed to the Da-Snap. Same fabrics, just uglier frames (hey, the lights are off).
